The Soul Shot
Our eyes don't lie: they're windows to the soul. They show the truth, no matter what face we put on, in any situation. Our stories are in our eyes and to know someone is to look into them and observe.
When Chris got up really close and asked David Lemon to look directly into the camera lens something magical happened. “David, I want you to pretend I’m not here”, he said. “Take your mind off to somewhere that means something deep in your heart, and I’m going to look into your soul.”
Well, we had only just met the guy and I remember thinking, and saying out loud, “Steady on fella, you’ll scare the man off!”
But when the image landed on my desk the following week I was captivated by David’s expression and it was like there were a thousand stories just waiting to be told. I knew this was something that needed to be done for each of our inspirational contributors, and so the SoulShot concept was born.
