SoulKind fundraiser stories…
Michael Fitzpatrick: Fighting for what matters
In April, Michael Fitzpatrick, Contracts Director at our kind partners 7formation, will step into the boxing ring to raise funds for SoulKind’s inaugural mentor-led adventure programme — an initiative created to support people who have experienced life-changing trauma.
Later this year in October, our first adventure will take place in collaboration with Adventurous Ewe and the wonderful Jo Bradshaw. It will bring together a small group of survivors of child sexual abuse (CSA), creating a carefully held space for connection, trust and rebuilding. This focus became deeply personal to us after meeting Poppy Eyre and her remarkable family, whose story features in SoulKind 4.
Michael will go three gruelling heavyweight rounds and it’s not something we’re take lightly. When someone chooses to literally stand and fight for this cause, it carries weight far beyond the ring.
As a child, Michael was bullied for his size. At 13, his father introduced him to a local boxing gym — a place that became his refuge through his teenage years. Now in his thirties, he has spoken openly about the challenges of maintaining his health and fitness while balancing work and family life.
“I saw this as the perfect opportunity to get myself back into a good level of fitness — but more importantly, to support SoulKind and Poppy’s story.”
This is what it looks like when people put the cause first. When someone shows up with this level of commitment, it becomes bigger than one individual. It becomes shared purpose. A true collaboration — and a powerful reminder of what can happen when we stand together for something that matters.
You can donate and show support for Michael on his GoFundMe page and read about his story in the Northants Telegraph.
