Sean Conway

A way of thinking

Sean’s story unfolds on the shores of Coniston water in the Lake District and across the surrounding fells — the landscapes that have helped shaped his record-breaking endurance mindset.

From cycling across Europe to completing a 4,200-mile triathlon around Britain, he speaks with humour, humility and a deep love for wild places. Rooted in a childhood surrounded by conservation work, Sean’s adventures reflect both grit and purpose.

Lucy Shepherd

An “unlikely adventurer” in the eyes of many, Lucy quickly proves otherwise. From her first Arctic expeditions to surviving collapsing glaciers and rockfall in Tajikistan, her story is one of instinct, resilience and self-belief.

Warm, grounded and quietly formidable, she shows how ordinary beginnings can lead to extraordinary paths when curiosity is followed fearlessly.

Jamie McDonald

A real life superhero

Jamie’s world-record challenges — from treadmill ultras to countless marathon feats — are driven by a deeply personal purpose: helping sick children through his Superhero Foundation.

After battling a rare spinal condition as a child, he channels hardship into hope, tackling outrageous endurance tests with humour, heart and unshakeable optimism.

Finding freedom

David Lemon

A veteran adventurer with a deep need to push himself, David’s story moves between his epic expeditions and the childhood experiences that shaped many of his decisions in later life.

From walking the length of the Zambezi to seeking inner peace in solitude, he reflects on courage, bullying, resilience and freedom — offering insight into what drives a quiet, determined explorer forward.

We should all look back at what we wanted to be as children, because that’s when your visions and thoughts are most pure.”

Jenny Wordsworth

Practical thinking

A London lawyer turned elite endurance athlete, Jenny attempted a solo, unsupported ski to the South Pole — battling brutal conditions, isolation, and a severe Polar Thigh injury.

Her story is one of meticulous preparation, mindset, and learning to commit fully to a dream. Both vulnerable and fiercely determined, she shows what happens when discipline meets belief.

James Lawrence

The Iron Cowboy

A global endurance icon, James reflects on the mindset behind his extraordinary feats — including 50 Ironmans in 50 days across all 50 US states.

From his Utah home beneath Mount Timpanogo, he shares how family, failure, physical strength and relentless discipline shaped the challenges that redefined his limits. His message is simple: learn, adapt and keep moving forward.

Pip Stewart

Keeping it real

Journalist, explorer and unapologetically honest human being, Pip’s story spans long-distance cycling across continents, documenting Amazon deforestation, and contracting (and surviving) a life-threatening parasitic disease in the Guyanese jungle.

She brings humility, curiosity and humour to every expedition — encouraging others to embrace imperfection, learn on the move and stay open to the world’s lessons.

Laura Try

Getting on with it

From beauty-business owner to ocean rower, Laura’s path is one of reinvention. After years of searching for direction, she joined a four-woman crew in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge — rowing 3,000 miles and winning their category.

Her story captures joy, humour, vulnerability and grit, and how adventure helped her rediscover who she really is.

Sian Lewis

The girl outdoors

Award-winning journalist and founder of The Girl Outdoors, Sian champions approachable, joy-filled adventures for all. Her story focuses on small, accessible outdoor experiences, confidence building and the pure happiness of being outside.

She shows how adventure doesn’t need to be extreme to be transformative — just honest, playful and within reach.

Aaron Baker

The lucky ones

Paralysed from the neck down after a motorbike accident, Aaron’s fight back is one of the most powerful resilience stories in the issue – and one of the main reasons SoulKind exists today.

From years of rehabilitation to crossing Death Valley on foot, he embodies patience, self-belief and the refusal to accept limitation. His journey inspired our founder Jamie personally during his own recovery — making his inclusion deeply meaningful.

Adam Weymouth

Kings of the Yukon

Drawing from his Yukon adventure tracing the salmon run, Adam reflects on humanity’s relationship with nature — and how seeing life stripped back to land, people and water reshaped his worldview.

His observations reveal how deeply our choices impact the environment, and how reconnecting with those cycles can shift the way we live.
